Tips & Tricks: To Get You Prepared for Your Session!
Details
Behind the scenes!
5, 6, 7, 8…
So you’ve booked your boudoir session—amazing! Whether you're doing this to celebrate a milestone, boost your confidence, or just because (yes, “just because” is reason enough!), I’m here to make sure you feel prepared, empowered, and totally ready to slay.
Here’s a full breakdown of how to get yourself ready for the ultimate confidence-boosting experience:
1. Dress Smart Before the Shoot
When getting ready the day of your session, comfort and skin preservation are key.
Avoid wearing tight clothing, especially bras, leggings, or socks that might leave red marks or pressure lines on your skin. Instead, opt for loose-fitting clothes—think a cozy robe, a flowy sundress, or even pajama pants and a tank top. Your skin will thank you, and your photos will look that much smoother.
2. To Tan or Not to Tan?
If you plan to tan, make sure it’s done at least 7–10 days before your session.
Spray tans are great if done correctly and with enough time for the color to settle and even out. But please avoid last-minute tanning—it can result in orange, streaky, or patchy skin, and that’s not the kind of glow we want.
Pro tip: Exfoliate and moisturize regularly the week leading up to your shoot so your skin looks healthy and radiant, with or without a tan.
3. Bring a Variety of Outfits
When it comes to outfits, the more the merrier! I encourage you to bring multiple looks so we can mix and match depending on the vibe you’re feeling during the shoot. Here are a few go-to suggestions:
Lingerie Sets – A classic bra and panty combo in black, white, or red always photographs beautifully.
Bodysuits – These are flattering on every body and a great option if you want to feel a little more covered but still sexy.
Oversized Sweaters or Button-Down Shirts – These pieces give off cozy and intimate vibes, perfect for a more casual, relaxed look.
Blue Jeans + No Top (or just a bralette) – Simple but SO effective. Add a little edge or vulnerability.
Heels, Robes, Jewelry, or Your Partner’s Favorite Shirt – Accessories can elevate any look and add a personal touch.
If you're unsure about what to wear, we’ll chat about it during your pre-session consultation, and you're always welcome to dip into the client closet too!
4. Pamper Yourself
Preparing mentally is just as important as prepping physically.
The night before your session, do something relaxing—light a candle, take a bubble bath, play your favorite hype music (get that playlist ready!). Pampering yourself sets the tone for how amazing you’re about to feel.
Physically, here are a few beauty tips to consider:
Shave or wax 24–48 hours before your session to reduce redness or irritation.
Get your nails done—fingers and toes! They’ll show in some of your photos.
Hydrate your skin with a rich, non-shimmer lotion.
Avoid new skincare products right before the shoot to prevent unexpected breakouts or reactions.
The goal here is to make you feel polished and confident—not to chase perfection.
5. Eat Smart + Hydrate
In the 2–3 days leading up to your shoot, drink lots of water and eat foods that make you feel good (think light, nourishing meals vs. super salty or greasy options).
Staying hydrated helps your skin look vibrant and can even reduce puffiness. Plus, it helps with muscle recovery after your session—which you’ll need…
6. Stretch It Out
Yes, I’m serious.
You’re going to be bending, arching, twisting, and posing in ways you didn’t know you could—think of it as sexy yoga with a camera. You will discover muscles you didn’t know existed. 😂
A little light stretching the morning of (and even the day after!) will go a long way.
7. Embrace the Experience
Last but definitely not least: let go and have fun.
This session is about more than just pretty pictures. It’s about seeing yourself in a whole new light—powerful, radiant, confident, and uniquely YOU.
So let loose, laugh a lot, strike a pose, and let’s create some magic together. ✨
Whether this is a gift for your partner or a love letter to yourself—boudoir is always, always for you first.
